FILM DESCRIPTION:
After making a deathbed promise to his mother that he would never marry, Jack Singer (Nicolas Cage) finds that resolve challenged when his girlfriend, Betsy (Sarah Jessica Parker), begins making noise about wanting to start a family. Worried he might lose her, Jack makes the rash decision that they should fly to Las Vegas that weekend to tie the knot. Feet still cold, Jack spurns Betsy’s idea to get married the moment they step off the plane, preferring to procrastinate for a few hours over a game of poker arranged by notorious gambler Tommy Korman (James Caan). Peddling the game as a get-to-know-you thrown by the hotel, Korman steadily raises the stakes on Jack until the novice is in for 65,000 dollars of the house’s money on a hand he’s sure he’ll win –

33 Replies to “Honeymoon in Vegas (1992) – The Poker Game Scene (4/12) | Movieclips”

  1. If that happened in 5 stud I would think there was some cheating going on! They set you up giving you a great hand so you can't get out then lower the boom by one upping you!

  2. This poker hand ruins it for me. The probabilty of a straight flush in 5 card draw is 0.0014. The odds of being beaten by a higher straight flush is in the millions.
Its just ridiculous. At least make it a tiny bit realistic….!

  3. In this scene are they betting fake money like me and my mom used to do and was this before James caan had his legs severely mutilated by Annie Wilkes?

  4. Card mechanics, his wifey paid 😂
That's why the straight flush was to the queen.
His flush was his name Jack.
    Jack lost his Queen.
    Perfect plot.

  5. There are a million reasons to be careful in a private game. Obviously card/deck stacking. Two, table stakes (where you cant bet more than is in front of you) is standard. Some say casinos are always legit, but commerce casino dealers were indeed caught colluding with local players at the high stakes games. Always be aware of fishy situations. I know, I've been in a million of them.

  6. The 'slow roll' that everyone hates to see…:)
It does happen, but the 'deal' is a good excuse to disbelieve 🙂
Here is a tournament poker scene, but let's wonder about the camera being there recording this perfect 'Nuts', and wonder is this Polish scene real or the 'deal'…? 🙂 Straight flush vs staight flush – YouTube

  7. Would love to see this on poker after dark. He'll mouth ivey Dean all have 100k in front then mid had ask for more chips and the pot becomes 2. 5mil. Hellmuth gets beat by some silly guy from norther europe
